For Sale: AVL 24-harness, 40 Inch Computer-Controlled Industrial Dobby Loom

Our AVL Industrial Dobby Loom

This 24-harness, 40 inch AVL Industrial Dobby Loom is the state of the art in small-scale pneumatically operated looms. Built for serious production work, it has 24 harnesses and can handle up to 7 shuttles -- each able to hold a different color of yarn. The computer in the foreground controls the mechanism, and is equipped with computer-aided design software that makes the entry of new fabric patterns a snap! Because the shuttles, beater, and harnesses are moved by compressed air, the weaver can concentrate on the design and production of the fabric and avoid the repetitive motion injuries that may be associated with long term use of a manual shuttle mechanism. The loom is only 14 months old, and we've tuned and upgraded it so that it is actually in "better than new" condition.

Also included are the WeavePoint CAD/CAM software (used to enter fabric patterns and operate the loom) and all the original instructions and manuals for the loom, accessories and software.

Finally, we're including many accessories that must normally be bought at substantial additional cost:
  • Two sectional warp beams
  • Wall-mounted beam winder (to allow winding of beams off the loom)
  • 2 reeds (32 and 20 dents per inch)
  • Extra heddles
  • 9 shuttles
  • 70 shuttle bobbins
  • Motorized bobbin winder
  • Lithium grease gun (used to lubricate loom parts)

Why are we selling such a magnificent piece of equipment? Because our product focus has changed; we now need a different loom to weave the products our customers are demanding.

Not shown, but also for sale, is the 7.5 horsepower Ingersoll Rand air compressor that powers the loom. Ingersoll Rand makes the best compressors money can buy; this one has an 80 gallon air storage tank and connects to the loom via a heavy gauge rubber hose (barely visible in the picture above to the right of the computer podium).

For a more detailed view of the equipment, click the image above. (The full-sized JPEG photograph is about 99K bytes and may take a while to load depending upon the speed of your connection.) Asking prices are $38,000 for the loom and $2,000 for the compressor, FOB Laramie Wyoming.
